How do you mount a tv on the wall?
It all depends on the type of bracket you have purchased, but the principles discussed in this article will help with all of of our brackets.
First, you will need to purchase a suitable TV bracket, checkout our home page menu to find the perfect bracket for your television and room.
If you need help finding the perfect bracket, the main things you need to know are:
- The weight of the television
- The size of the TV, measured in inches e.g. 42"
- The VESA hole or random hole pitch, e.g 400 x 400mm, etc
What is a VESA hole pitch?
A VESA hole pitch 4 threaded holes positioned at the back of the TV, typically M4, M6 or M8 tapped holes. The distance from hole to hole is called the VESA pitch. Measured horizontally, then vertically..
What Tools do I need to mount a TV wall mount?
- Drill and appropriate drill bit
- Pencil
- Spirit level (some brackets have spirit levels built in)
- Tape Measure
Let's begin
Check the area you will be mounting the TV wall plate with a cable and stud detector
Position the bracket
Position the bracket level on the wall and mark centre hole positions with a pencil
You can use as many of the fixing holes as required. Please check the type of wall and wall anchors to determine how many fixing holes you will use. A minimum requirement is 4.
Fix the bracket to the wall
Once you are happy with the marked hole positions, drill the holes using an appropriate drill bit for the wall anchor you have specified.
Insert the wall anchors
Place the wall bracket on the wall
Ensure the bracket is level and tighten all screws
Fix the TV brackets to the TV
Measure the VESA hole depth and select the appropriate sized screw to secure the TV brackets to the TV.
Hang the TV
With the help of a friend, lift the TV onto the wall bracket and secure the bottom fixing screws to the wall bracket.
Set the tilt and swivel positions and lock off any adjustment thumb screws (if tilt and swivel models are fitted to your bracket)
Final steps
Check the final level (adjust if required) and sit back and relax
